So i'm left handed...not to worry right? Wrong!
I can't buy a lefty guitar cause it seems to cost alot more, and my budget doesn't allow me to do so.
So i was hoping to get some answers here on what to do. One thing i thought of is to learn the righty, simple as that. But another choice is to turn the guitar upside down as a lefty.
What do you guys think? Will it be hard to learn righty, or turn the guitar upside down? Which one do u recommend?
Thanks for the help.

IT would be easy for the rest of the world to learn right handed. I know several players (and Drummers) that have done that.
Some lefty guitars aren't a lot more... but they are an added cost.
PArt of Hendrix's voodoo tone was that he had a right handed strat strung upside down. IT had a lot of effects due to the invese string lengths at the tuners, the reversed pickup magnets as well as the stagger of the bridge p'up being backwards... and then there is the top mounted trem arm, which was what inspired SRV to put a lefty bridge on his #1 strat.
Cobain chose to find new sonic territory without considering the lefty option... he just got lefty built guitars... something can be said about left handed players being true to that side of creativity...seems like they are all special. for the added $$ you can be comfortable and creative in a way us right handers can't achieve... look at Paul McCartney.
Albert King just flipped his guitar with the bass strings on the bottom and came up wiht a whole new style of the Blues

He who can keep his head when all around are losing theirs... Probably does not understand the situation

What is your pricerange? Schecter makes a few left handed guitars that are mildly priced, and Epiphone, Squier, and Fender make quite a few. I would say that the average guitar costs about $50 to $75 more to be made left handed, but for all of the bridge and pickup issues to be handled is almosed worth the extra money. Then again, look at all of the progression that left handed guitarists have made (the players that TheoDog mentioned).

if you havent started playing guitar yet, learn it the "proper" way.

its not like writing or anything liek that, if you dont know how to play it yet then you might as well learn it the same way most others do. which hand you write with doesnt have anything to do with your playing, save yourself some hassle.

I wouldn't say that playing right handed is the "proper" way, but I agree. I am left handed, and I learned to play right handed with no problums or hangups at all.

I am left handed myself, and play lefty guitars. You could learn to play right handed, but that depends on how dextrous you are with your right hand. If it's too hard to play righty, then flip the strings on a right handed guitar to make it 'lefty'. Problem solved. The only downside is the knobs will most likely get in your way.

edit: of course, you'll have to get a new nut for your guitar.

its not the proper way per se, but its the "regular" way.

most guitars are right handed because that's the usual way people play 'em.

if you dont know how, might as well do it the usual way and save some cash and some hassle.

Im a righty who plays lefty (due to a football injury) and left handed guitars do not cost more, they are just more scarce. I played righty for about 3 years when i had to make the switch. 6 months later I feel as if i was a lefty all along. Its easy to learn the opposite hand. Its also easy to buy a guitar and flip it over.

I say learn right. It will be awkward for about a month, but soon you wont notice.

My guitar teacher plays right even though he is left handed, and he is one of the most amazing jazz players Ive ever seen, and can be rally technical. And my brother plays drums right even though he is left and he is also easily the best drummer I know.

I write left-handed and play right-handed. When I first picked up a guitar, it felt very awkward both right-handed and left-handed, so I just opted to learn right-handed, since it's more popular and I can find more guitars that way.

It doesnt make a difference if you write with your left hand, just hope that you havn't started learning

If you haven't just get used to playing with you right hand cuz it isnt like writing. Anyway you might find it easier to use ur left hand to find the frets
