It took many years to create guitars that could satisfy the Master of Tone, but the results have been worth it. Joe Satriani's signature guitars aren't simply a tribute to the man who has kept the torch burning for instrumental rock, they're the perfect vehicle for an artist who can put as much intensity into a whole note as he does with a light speed phrase.

General Comments:
Had my eye on one for about 3 years and finally got together enough money to grab the oddball version the JS1000BTB (Burnt Transparent Blue). Top quality instrument for what would normally sell for double the price. No flaws in the finish at all and an incredible paint job from the factory. Mine was purchased from Rich Harris at www.ibanezrules.com for $1475 and worth every penny! Rich is meticulous on his guitars and it shows! He set up the tremelo system for me perfectly and went over every single piece of the instrument.

What do you especially like about this product?
The very first thing I noticed is how comfortable it is to play. It's not bulky and heavy like a Les Paul nor does it feel like it's going to break on you like a Strat. The neck is extremely smooth and easy to handle. The added versatility with the selector switch and the pop-up tone and volume controls is amazing. The DiMarzzio FRED pick ups allow you to play heavy or soft with full blown distortion or crisp clear resonance. The colors and the finish are a true eye grabber. Not only does it feel good but it plays even better. As soon as it come sout of the case, jaws drop.

What do you dislike about this product?
The only complaint is about the very thing that sets this guitar apart from all others in it's sound capabilities and quality is changing the strings. The locking string nuts (top of neck) and the Floyd Rose tremelo (body) can be a task but for the trade off of being able to do swirling dive bombs or resilient crescendos it's well worth it. Where I playing on stage, I'd have to have a backup JS1000 because of the time it takes to change the strings.

General Comments:
Unbelievable! I admit, I was initially drawn to it because I am a huge JP fan. But I didn't buy his Ibanez because I couldn't get past the graphic and I could buy a stock RG that did the same basic thing for way less money! But I always loved his control layout. So, I checked out his Ernie Ball model and fell in love. My main guitar was a Brian Moore MC/1, but this guitar takes it! Ernie Ball Guitars have always had amazing necks, but I needed 24 frets and more contemporary styling. Let's face it, most of their guitars are like Oldsmobiles. Sure, they're nice, but I wouldn't be caught dead...well, you get the idea.

What do you especially like about this product?
This guitar plays effortlessly. It plays easily as well as any Anderson and doesn't cost nearly as much! The forearm contour is genius! Ironic how the traditional forearem contour isn't contoured for your forearm! It contours away from it! Not on the JP! It actually cradles your forearm! You can't see it if you watch the Live Scenes DVD because he was playing prototypes there that weren't equipped with the new contour. (If you go to his website www.johnpetrucci.com there is a link through his equipment page where you can watch streaming video from Ernie Ball showing the different design stages). It's the first guitar I've ever played that my arm NEVER feels fatigued on! Granted, if you are Zakk Wylde and wear your guitar at your knees, you won't appreciate it because your arm angle will be way off...so buy a Les Paul! But if you wear your guitar high to get full access because Zakk has freakishly large hands capable of ridiculous contortion, Check it out! You'll dig it! How could you not?!

What do you dislike about this product?
The only things I dislike about this product are 1) that it is no longer available in White Sparkle, 2) it is no longer available in Silver Sparkle and 3) It is not free!
