Your favourite strat colour?

Hi,

I've been playing in a band for a while and have decided that since we are getting quite a few gigs now, that I should get a "knock around" guitar. I know, ideally no guitar _should_ get damaged but I've been taking my goodies to our concerts and sometimes I get a little worried about them. So, I'm now in the market for a cheap MIM or MIJ strat which I will then upgrade the pickups to Dimarzio cruisers and probably a Dimarzio breed in the bridge (Andy Timmons anyone?). After that, the only *bummer* should be the 21 frets and probably some of the hardware but that isn't my main concern.

MY QUESTION:

Which is your favourite colour combination for Fender Stratocaster guitars?

Feel free to be as detailed as you can (the more detail the better) e.g. Body Colour > Pickguard > Pickup Covers > anything.

99% says I would prefer a maple neck and a simple, *flat* colour that you can get easily in the MIM or MIJ range. One of my ideas was a black body with a blue pearl pickguard and black knobs/pickup covers however I'm a fan of just about every strat colour (EXCEPT BLUE - I HAVE WAY TOO MANY BLUE GUITARS Smiley).

Let's hear your thoughts!

I really like the vintage white cream strat with cream pickups and rosewood fretboard, white pickguard. Sunburst strats with pearloid pickguards and rosewood fretboards are nice too. Also, one of the uncommon but VERY nice looking colours which I'd like to get myself one of them someday, is a Fiesta red Strat with either maple or rosewood fretboard and white pickguard, they are simply orgasmic.

I like red for Strats. With a maple board, I think Fiesta Red would look great---I think that combination is available on the 50s Strat. The Chrome Red red on the current MIM Standards would look good with a maple board too:

In person, I think Chrome Red actually looks brighter than this; this looks more like a Candy Apple Red. With red and maple, I'd go with white plastic parts.

For comparison, here's the Classic Series 50s Strat in Fiesta Red. That model also comes in Dakota Red, which is a darker red:

Fiesta Red and Dakota Red are flat reds; Chrome Red is metallic.

Even though my favorite would be Cobalt Blue Transparent with a flamed maple neck

I would say for a non blue guitar with rosewood it would be Violin Sunburst

But then again, Bing Cherry Transparent is nice too!

Awesome. It's interesting hearing everyone's opinion on this. I quite like the black strat idea, and the olympic white ones. Keep posting, and thanks heaps because I'm getting some good ideas. By the way JC93230, I really like the look of that Sunburst strat in your signature.

Mine is my sienna sunburst, it has a rosewood neck and if I was to change just one thing on it I'd probably go with the all maple, my tastes have changed and I think I like the maple neck just a smidge better, but then again that is today, who knows about tomorrow. Oh and I would love a pearl pickguard, mine is just white currently, but I would like to change it out one day.

Here is a nother pic of the sunburst. It is a 1992 American Floyd Rose Classic Strat. I havent figured out if it is alder, but it is quite light.
