This guitar is beautiful and i would like to share it with you guys.
Here is what Slash said about it:

"The weight of the guitar, the way the neck is, the humbuckers; all that stuff just appeals to me as a guitar player. [The Les Paul] really is the best all-around guitar for me." Slash

You can check it out here:

I do like the antique violin burst. That makes for a nice look.

Too bad it's not a Tele though!! Smiley

Looks like a typical over priced les Paul to me.

What yamaha said. At least they had the good sense to not have the stupid looking slash scribbles on it. He's had what 6 different signature models with Gibby now? I'm sure a few of the Slash fanboys on the Gibson forums will buy it though.

Sure, it's a beautiful guitar. Not THE most beautiful guitar. I'm sure that's subjective, to say the least.

I still really like the simple look of a good Tele. Whether it's one of those old barnwood teles or my own ice blue metallic, there's so much simplicity. You also can't beat some of the PRS finishes. I also like the Oxblood Les Paul. Oh and Molloon makes some real cool stuff.

I don't think that a guy who wears a hat that stoopid looking is qualified to have an opinion on the aesthetics of guitars.

this rig requires something with a little more kick... plutonium!

That's list price. It wouldn't actually sell for that much but it is still ridiculously expensive as most Gibson guitars are these days.

So aside from the truss rod cover and the switch that probably remotely starts a moped, it's different from a normal Les Paul because.....?

This is what I think. If you like it, keep it. If you don't, send it right back. Smiley

Yeah, I know, under normal conditions (at least in my day) a Gibson, Fender, or anything else went for about 60 to 65 percent of MSRP at a volume store. Having said that, it's still a rip. I thought we were in a recession. If there's anyone here with enough money to buy one of those things, I'd like to invite you over to my house. Please bring your wallet and personal ID. We're having liver, fava beans and chianti. PM me for details.

I have both kinds of guitars - Fender AND Gibson.

Guitars are not any more expensive now than they have ever been.

I read an interesting conversation about the price of guitars recently that was trying to illustrate that guitars today are actually cheaper than they were in the 50s. By my research this is only partially true. While the average cost of a 'quality' guitar has approximately stayed the same, the quality of beginner guitars has gone waaay up and the price of them waaay down.

Here's how the cost breaks down for say a Les Paul...

In 1955 the cost of a Les Paul Standard was $249. Today they start out at around $1899 list. By way of inflation calculator ( http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.htm ) it can be figured that $249 in 1955 equates to $2013 in 2010. That's not a drastic increase in price, per say, though it does seem like a huge price tag for a nice guitar. This doesn't take into account signature and deluxe model guitars.

Student/beginner guitars have gotten much cheaper over time, and most would agree that the quality is much better, but I guess that could be argued. Anyway, let's say a Silvertone guitar in the 50s cost $100. In today's money that would be $808. A good beginner guitar today could cost as little as $150. That's an impressive difference I would say. So no, guitars are not any more expensive today than they have ever been, in the scope of things.
