Mine is - that way you get hum-cancellation in postion 2 (neck+ middle). Of course, you could argue that you don't absolutely need to do that, but if it's possible to get you hands on a RWRP p'up, I'd say its worth it.

Some HSS guitars are wired so that in position two, you're only using one of the coils on the bridge 'bucker. In that case, again it would give you hum cancelling that you wouldn't get otherwise.
EDIT: Depending on which coil from the HB you used, you might get hum cancellation in position 2, but if the middle pickup is not RWRP, you wouldn't also get it in position 4. With RWRP, you can wire it up to get hum cancellation in both positions, even if you are splitting the bridge humbucker in position 2.

This is what I think. If you like it, keep it. If you don't, send it right back.

I actually have a guitar that was HSS, and I repupped SSS. I couldn't get all the pickups I wanted and still get the hum cancelling middle. The hum on these modern single coils is really not that bad (I've been flamed for saying that before). I don't mind it at all. It's a killer axe now.
Plus, you can always try a noise suppression pedal?
