Do they produce their own or do they have them made by another company and put their label on them?

No, they don't make their own. Probably Sovtek or Shuguang. Do they warranty their tubes? if they give you 6 months to a year they might be worth it. I can't in good conscience recommend any new production tubes. Not with the luck I've had.

Since I've been on GNet I've kinda noticed you're string of luck with tubes. They probably are sovteks.
By the way. What is the longest you've had tubes without them going belly up?

Brian Hendrix uses the Mesa tubes. If a whole set is purchased he(Mesa) warranties them for 12 months. According to him they used to be russian but are now chinese made but it's been a while since I've talked to him about them.
I know Mesa has a big testing process with strict standards before they put their label on them. You can read about it on their website.
I like the Mesa tubes and would have no problem with recommending them. A Twin that used to be mine but now my neighbor has, uses the Mesa tubes and no problems and sounds great for over 2 years now.

Mesa Boogie has gone through a lot of different tube manufacturers over time. Now, they use both Sovtek and some Chinese tubes (their 6L6 STR440 for example). I've had and used many Mesa tubes. None have failed, but they haven't been very impressive either.
It's a mixed bag, but most feel the restricition of using only Mesa tubes or voiding your warranty is ridiculous. If you are buying your tubes from someone who knows what they're doing, you can safely use any manufacturers tubes. I highly recommend JJ, Winged C, or NOS if you are into that

This isn't for a mesa amp. My friend has a Vox AC50 (new one) that needs tubes. He was just asking me because they are readily available to him without waiting for shipping. He is in a working band and he is not a gearhead. I personally like JJ's myself.

I just have a small stock of JJ's on a shelf. That way I'm not waiting for shipping, and I'm not paying CA state sales tax (nearly 10%) and I'm not even driving to the Mesa Boogie store on Sunset.
