- I am in a good mood in this year. Because I've had these fashional jordan, nike, puma, timberland and else brand shoes.I can choose according to my wishes in
SPAM.
This might be a stupid question, but is it feasible to think that I can wear these shoes pretty much everyday. I want to travel as lightly as possible when I'm travel in many countries.

- I happened to play this amp on my friend's house. That's what I would call Marshall's response to SpiderValve and Vypr amps. I did not explore it much, but did a quick run on the different preamp sections, and I have to say I liked them all...

It has an onborad effects processor, with fairly convincent mod effects, delay and reverb. Tube powersection.

Good, versatile option with the Marshall seal on every sound.

Anyone tried this? they told him at the store that they were distributing the amp and will launch it when it is in all stores... hmmm...

I did not find a single refference when I googled it...

Agile vs. Xaviere

Posted by zachyweezer in Electric Guitar

- Hope ya'll are doing well. It has been too long!

I've come to learn that buying a guitar is a very personal process. Like most players, I want to hold and get a feel for the instrument before I make a purchase. But finding potential guitars in a small town can be frustrating!

I'd like that humbucker sound. Money is definitely an issue, so I've decided to choose between a couple of "off-brands."

I like that fact that Agile has so many terrific reviews. Grover tuners come on all models, as well. That's certainly a plus. Also, I hear that the pickups aren't too bad either.

My main concern, however, is the fret work.

Until a few days ago, I'd never heard of Xaviere. Evidently, they've copied the Agile formula by providing their customers with solid body LP copies that come equipped with options not normally seen on $200 guitars.

I've read the reviews, watched Youtube videos, etc...But I've played neither.

Anybody have experience with both of these guitars brands? I've narrowed it down to the Agile AL-2000 and the Xaviere XV-500.

Here is a link if you're not familiar with Xaviere:

Pre-amp or power amp retubing question.........

Posted by Maritimer in Amplifiers

- Hello folks!

Since I use my Peavey Classic 30 with my GT8 (and now the Cube 30 as well in stereo, and I can't shake this combo!) and go through the FX return jack from the GT8 to the C30, would I only have to re-tube the power amp section if I want to re-tube this? I'm presuming since I'm bypassing the pre-amp section, I'm only running through the power amp section so a re-tube that I could possibly hear a difference from would be changing the power amp tubes? I have the pre-amp tubes already, but holding onto them in case I start using my pedal board again, and then I'll re-tube the pre-amp section. Let me know if this thinking sounds right or not!

Posted by DCdude in Amplifiers

- seems llike there was a fairly recent post about all tubes being the same, but I cant find it...

I recently replaced the original groove tubes that were in my Budda. I spent extra$$ and put Mullards in there. Have to tell ya...the Budda never sounded this good before! Im not one to throw terms like "glassy", "shimmering" or any of those out there, but there is a huge difference on both the clean and driven channels. and for the (much) better! I can attest to better "pick attack" , and harmonics are effortless!

I dunno if I can support the "all tubes are the same" statement these Mullards rock!

Its hard to decide on a first guitar

Posted by The Hobbiest in Acoustic Guitar

- I am probably too old (34) to be starting new hobbies, but I have always wanted to be able to play guitar. I tried for a few months as a middle schooler, but my guitar was piece O'___ and I wasn't very committed. I figured I would give it another try with a guitar that was easier to play and sounded a little better.

I have been to 4 different guitar stores (the 2 larger ones twice), and I just can't find a guitar that feels quite right. I have probably limited myself by trying to find something for around $300. I tried basically every model I could get my hands on from $200 to $400. Ive tried Ibanez, Epiphone, Fender, Seagull, Washburn, Hohner, Takamine, and the 2 cheaper models by Martin and Taylor. I have found some guitars that have the sound Im looking for and some that have the action and feel Im looking for, but none that have both. To my ears, none of the cutaway versions sounded as good as the dreadnought versions.

I really liked the action (not so much the looks) of the Epiphone hummingbird, but both of the ones I tried had a fret height problem (I think). The bass strings buzzed if playing above the "higher" looking fret, and sounded good below...Weird that 2 different stores would have units with the same problem (though not the exact same frets). I tried some other epiphones that sounded better, but had different actions. I also like the action on the Ibanez and Hohner guitars I tried, but they didn't quite sound as good as some of the others (the Hohner was ok, but a cheaper model.)

I really liked the sound of the Yamaha's, Seagull's, and Takamine's, but the action didn't feel very good to me...even after one of the Takamines that felt close was adjusted.

I didn't care for the action or sound of the cheap Martin & Taylor, though they may just not have been setup properly. The Fenders didn't seem all that great either.

This one Washburn that was an acoustic electric was perfect...It sounded good and had a great feeling action, but the top had a crack in it where one of the nobs was installed. The guy said it had been repaired, but he was charging full price and wouldn't come off it. I am tempted to try and order this model online, and hope that if it doesn't come setup the same, I can take it somewhere to get setup properly.

The other online guitar that intrigued me was the Hohner dr550. Supposedly this guitar has the same action as the cheaper Hohner I liked, but has a much better sound because it was a full solid body vs a composite body...and the wood has been frequency matched by some tapping method??...Anyway the price seems pretty good vs similarly spec'ed big name models.

Sorry for the novel. I just wanted to vent, because is frustrating to me that I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Manufacturers' Descriptions of Amplifiers and Warranties

Posted by John_Chicago in Amplifiers

- Has anyone ever wondered how and why manufacturers describe their different amplifiers models within their own brand as having similar sound characteristics such as:

"glassy cleans; smooth lows, mids, highs; bell-like cleans, rich tones, smooth cleans, shimmering cleans, extra warm cleans, pristine cleans and lows, blues and rhythm cleans, award winning sounds, sweet sounds, full cleans, versatile tones."

While such descriptions might be legal, and at worst, sales "puffing" and opinions, they might confuse, if not mislead consumers. Colloquially and formally, is it unreasonable for a consumer and musician to understand and expect that the manufacturer statements of "glassy cleans, shimmering cleans, pristine cleans" to be synonymous and similarly practical?

For businesses, multiple product models are sometimes necessary for economic and performance success. Some different models are truly unique and useful whilst others offer no appreciable difference, improvements, and conversely, reach the point of diminishing returns instantly or early.

The rhetorical question might be, "If amplifier model X has such a good clean and versatile tone and distortion, why is there a model Y?"

Regarding warranties, some working musicians avoid purchasing an expensive amplifier that has a warranty period of only 1 year. It is a costly risk to purchase a $2500.00 priced unit that only has a 1 year warranty. Again, if some manufacturers' performance and reliability claims are so certain, and not just opinions and "puffing," why not include a 5 or 10 year warranty? Or even a lifetime warranty as other builders do?

My Head seems to have some feedback problems and im not sure what it is, ive ran it through three differant cabs but i currently dont have one, and its had the same feedback problem through all of them. It seems when i turn my level up to about a quarter or so, if my masters up to about half or so it starts to squeal and it doesnt matter how close i am. The only way to solve it is to turn down the level on my gain and then it dissappears, its not to much of a problem to me but i would just like to know if theres something i can do about it.

- Hi,

I bought a GGG DOD 440 Envelope Clone off of ebay that appears to be a dud.I can get a bypass signal, but on the fx channel I don't get any wah, although I do get sound. Twisting the knobs does nothing, however, although if I turn the level up all the way the sound cuts out. Anyway, I'd like to troubleshoot it myself, it can't be all that hard if it came from a kit. Any ideas on where I can begin?

Thanks,

Right now I have a Boss NS-2 noise suppressor, I love it, it just eats batteries too much, gotta get a powercable for that. If I get the MXR 10 band eq for christmas then that is another one that I will add to my collection. I am also interested in a boost pedal of some sort. What is everyone using, and why a boost pedal, or pedal used for boost? And what is a decent delay pedal? I play metalcore, drop c stuff.

Pickups for possible ESP

Posted by Julia_343 in Pickups

- #2 Pickups.... if ESP wins it has EMG 81/60. Does the 18v mod really make that much difference? What difference. I'm trying not to completely overdrive V1 on the amp. And I'd like a little warmth and character. I remember pulling the 81/85 set out of my Hellraiser for a JB/59, but the C-1 while friendly up at the headstock is not friendly to me at 12 -- it widens due to a very flat radius.

So I'm wondering if the Gibson Dirty Fingers are a drop in replacement for the EMG 81/60? I know that EMGs don't use a ground wire to the bridge, but is there a wire in the ESP EC-1000 or Eclipse II for a ground? Or at least is the hole drilled for it?

Or would you go with something else in pickups? Something I can readily get please. Something good for blues/rock.

Neck sizes

Posted by Julia_343 in Electric Guitar

- Two Parts:

Does anyone have the measurements (calipers) on the Epiphone 60s Slim Line necks? Thickness and width at nut and at 12th fret. And how it was measured.

I want to compare it to the neck on the ESP Eclipse II or the LTD EC-1000.

Reason: Epiphone is coming out with a Les Paul Tribute that has the 60s Slim Line and Gibson 57 Classics. I'm thinking of selling my fat 50s necked SG Std to get it because the neck on that isn't friendly to me getting the pinky and ring finger over to E6 at 12. I can't play with the thumb behind the neck -- it hyper extends and causes pain, so thin narrow necks are my friends. If the neck is narrower at 12 on the Eclipse or EC-1000 ESP wins. The widest neck I'll play is the one on the G&L Legacy.

The store has to place the order for it.

I know I sacrifice some tone for the thin neck, but that's all fixable.

Next part is in the Pickups forum

- Hey does anybody happen to know if the boost section of a 535Q CryBaby is before or after the wah, or even if it's just a part of the wah circuit?

Thanx Lots

- Does anyone know enough about the witing of a PRS CE22 to help me get a better twangy sound from it? It has the Dragon II p'ups and 5 way rotary switch. I wish one position was a out of phase type strat 2/4 switch sound. can that happen?

Help setting up my pedal board and using the Boss NS-2

Posted by mmmusic88 in Effects Pedals

- I recently started using effects pedals and recently got a Boss NS-2. I am confused on how to arrange the pedals and how to use the send / return input / output on the Boss NS-2.

My current pedals are:
Boss TU-2 (tuner)
MXR-102 (compressor)
EH Big Muff Pi (fuzz)
Boss NS-2 (noise suppressor)
Boss TR-2 (tremelo)
Boss DD-3 (delay)
Boss RV-5 (reverb)

I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me on how to connect the pedals properly.
